If it does it's rare Raven. IDK, I'd have to do a search to see if it every has. Usually stays warm there year around, which is why I want to live there. LOL

National weather service says it's never snowed there Raven, lowest recorded temp was 41 back in the 80's. Average temps are in the 70's in winter time.

Don't wanna go north for the winter that's for sure Wods. LOL But I probably will be. If we have the type of winter they're predicting I'll be hauling a lot of road salt.
DC, good to see you in and about, as always; )
oh ..... makes the road more palatable? any other condimints goes well with a raod?
Indeed it does Wods. No, that's about it. You could add some pepper but it doesn't do much for traction. LOL Some places use cinders to add a little grip but that's mainly gravel roads etc.

TC, good to see you too. Hope things are well there.

no one asalts a road 'ear ..... juss make ya carry chains in the alpine regeons in winter
(4 years ago)
Some areas here chains are required during the winter, usually the Rocky Mountain states. I haul mainly regional right now so that's not a problem. Roads here get salted any time in snows etc.

and with the scheduled closures of all the locks on the Illinois river and about half them north of St. Louis on the Mississippi, but haulers like I drive for are going to be busy this winter. grin
(4 years ago)
ya get it from siberia?/
Not sure where the salt comes from. Comes in on barges up the Mississippi. We have a barge terminal at St. Louis and one in Chicago. We haul anything bulk: grain, gravel, sand, salt, rock, coal etc
(4 years ago)
i saw them barges on da tele vision thingy ... beats me ya can steer da fukkas
(4 years ago)
Twin props, LOTS of horsepower, and a slow and steady hand. I have family who worked the barges, it isn't easy.

an of course the comentary is over DRAMAtised

Some tugs put out 10K horsepower, but they're pushing 15 to 24 barges, each hauling 15K tons...that's a lot of product. blink I can haul 26.5 tons in my truck. big difference
