Since when did you need to provide Gov ID to upload pics? That's not happening, don't even do that for social media.
For a while here, various threads in the forum of how to do it, simples : )

OK, then you will not also be posting any new content here, over 17,000 NN members have done it with no problem and no threat to their personal data.

You only have to show your first name, year of birth and a pic of your eyes upwards. No big deal really.

It has taken me all these months to do it as I thought the same as you...but I wanted to change profile pics and share my pictures to my gallery...So I bit the bullet and finally did it.
