I was hoping that the lack of blood and nausea meant Ace was going to beat parvo....sadly, I was wrong. One more of my pups joins their grand daddy chasing rabbits in heaven.

I finally can breath easy and smile....one pup seems to be over this! Slash has decided he isn't sick....little fucker ran when I tried to give him his pill, and while I was giving Ace his IV fluids, Slash grabbed the paper towels off the table so he'd have a toy! He's drinking....and he can eat...I waved a slice of turkey at him and he tried to take my fingers off to get it! Ace is still sick, he won't eat and he barely sips at the water, but he's still not passing any blood and he's only been nauseous once. Maybe he'll start feeling better soon. Thanks for the kind words and support y'all, they mean the world to me and the pups

....I just don't know which way I need to feel. I lost a second pup an hour ago. Willow was the first one that got treated, but as small as she was I guess the disease was just too much. At least she went peacefully, she just laid down to sleep and never woke up. She's laid next to her brother Axel now...they're both somewhere better chasing rabbits and barking at birds. Then there's Slash and Ace. Both of them are wandering the kitchen wagging their tails. No passing blood, no nausea....they both acted thirsty earlier, so I set the water dish down for them and they both had a drink. Maybe the worst has passed and I will actually be able to save these two. The other female, Calli, is still outside running around the kennel, so I'm hoping she has some sort of immunity. Thanks for the kind words everyone. You can't imagine how much they mean to me.

I guess I didn't get the pups medication started soon enough. One started coughing earlier and it sounded like his lungs were full of fluid. I didn't realize pneumonia could set in so quick. All I could do was pet him as he took his last breath. Nothing feels worse than watching a pet die and knowing you can do nothing to prevent it.

I heard the words every dog owner dreads last night from the vet....parvo. Two of the pups were acting weird, so they got dragged into the vet yesterday evening. Both tested positive for parvo, and now I have two more acting sick. They gave 'em antibiotic shots and some IV fluids, then loaded me down with more IV bags, needles and pills. I never knew a sick puppy could protest so much when you try to stick an IV needle in their scruff. I don't know how things are gonna work out, but so far the four sick ones seem to be fighting it. Three of them are just nauseous (or were...the vet also prescribed an anti-nausea med...that was cute when I went to the pharmacy to pick up drugs that were in a dogs name) but one of the girls is passing blood. I'm hoping though....she and the others have all taken some sips of water, so maybe they can get past the worst of this. I feel so bad for them though....they look so sad and tired. The pity is, I had scheduled them for their shots next week. Moot point now. At least all the big kids are up-to-date on vaccinations; they're all running the yard like they don't have a care in the world. If I don't act like myself when I'm on here, now you know why. I hate seeing my kids sick, and it's driving me close to the breaking point. Anyway, sorry for the disjointed rambling y'all.

Zoie, Terra, Natascha and Josey decided to play "avoid the camera" this morning...and did a damn good job. lol

the twerps are getting big too fast. I had to build them a new kennel today so they could have room to run and play...as a bonus, the new fence is tall enough that the big kids can't steal their cookies and canned Alpo!

Had to do all the photography through the fence. It's rained all week, the back yard is muddy as hell....didn't think mud and camera would be a good combination...

...and just FYI, both of those food bowls were full an hour ago. These are some eating little critters!
