Laid-back, easy going guy until my passions are aroused. I've been here 3 other times... I keep trying to get it right, I guess. lol

I ordered a cross on a chain, because I haven't had one for several years. It looked good, the price was right and there was free shipping. Got it. The chain will fit around my neck... barely. Next time, I'll make sure I read how long the chain is before purchasing. Live & learn.

I wouldn't be a weatherman (or person) if I valued public opinion. They get their forecasts wrong so many times. Today it was predicted snow flurries at best. So of course we got over an inch of snow. Meteorologist? I can predict the weather better with my aching knees or my sinuses.

I have survived the Blizzard of '78. I have survived the Ice Storm of '05, when power was knocked out here for 61/2 days... in January. Thank God for kerosene heaters & oil lamps. And for flannel sheets. In between those two storms, I got both of my hands frostbitten while reading meters for the local electric company when we were sent out to work with a wind chill of minus 60 degrees. A very weak union, in my opinion. Over 30 years later, my hands still start going numb when the temperature falls below 40 degrees. Today's high is expected to reach 20 degrees, with a wind chill around zero. Thank God my new car has remote start. In the midwest, you do what you can to survive until spring. ~

We had another inch of snow last night. This on the upcoming 43rd Anniversary of the infamous Blizzard of '78. 20 to 40 inches of snow fell in Indiana from January 24 -27. Schools and businesses were shut down for at least a week. My dog thought his bed in the garage wasn't good enough, so he went outside and curled up and slept in a snowdrift - completely covered. I spent three days helping a buddy dig his '51 Willys Jeep out of a snowdrift and when we drove into town for supplies the shelves were almost picked clean of essentials. No, those of us who lived through that storm will not forget the experience any time soon. ~

We have been lucky here for lack of snowfall this winter. This morning, about an inch drifted down. Now it's time to do that thing where I go out into the cold and scrape the ice off of the windows. Could have been worse. ~

It happened to me the summer I turned 6. What is it? I broke my left arm and being left handed had to learn to use my right arm as my dominate arm. I throw a baseball & football right handed. I was healed up to where I learned to dribble and shoot with my left hand. I can throw a baseball & football left handed, I just can't throw very hard or far. I'm a lefty who has learned to be ambidextrous in a right handed world. ~

I quit watching the news, except for the weather & sports. Why? Because every day I was seeing another example of hate. Hate for each other. Hate for government (thinly disguised as politics). Hate for other countries. All of the things I protested and still believe in changing was but a blip on the radar. I will continue to try to make change... one person and one day at a time. In my 69 years, I've seen that some people refuse to change their mind - about anything. I'd love to see a day when my ideals were met, but I know I won't live that long. Who will pick up the cause when I'm gone?
