I am not buying presents this year because I am i have decided to just give money and gift cards Bad idea or not
Do what works for you. Once my nieces and nephews moved past the toy stage, I gave cash and gift cards as well, taped to a package of their favorite treat or snack

Depends on who you are sending them to and where they can spend it. Gift cards can be really useful as the person can actually get what they need for a hobby nobody else knows about for example

I'm terrible at giving gifts. If someone wants something from me they can ask. It's much easier that way.

Why spend your money on somethng that's not wanted? Give a gift card, it's always the right size and the right color.

After a few years of my two brothers and I swapping gift cards, we decided that it was just silly. Now we just get together when we can and enjoy a nice meal at one of our favorite restaurants.
